The water mill was built in Zhodishki in 1781, and in 1997 by the efforts of the director of FRA-MIL LLC Zhilko Franz Boleslavovich it was restored and works to the present day - grinds flour with millstones using water. At the mill, until the end of the 19th century, grain was ground into flour using a wooden wheel with a diameter of 4 meters (it was restored), and at the end of the 19th century a turbine was installed (restored in 1996). Currently, the mill in ag. Zhodishki is the only active old water mill on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The mill houses an ethnographic museum and a grain and bread museum.

At the mill you will be shown and told about our most important exhibits - a working water mill and an exposition of grain and bread.

In addition, you will get acquainted with agricultural devices, handicrafts: pottery, blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, as well as with the life of peasants (matulina khata). Most of the presented exhibits are in good condition and can be used at the present time.

Each visitor is given a unique opportunity to grind grain into flour with his own hands, make a pot of clay, weave a cloth on a hand loom (cross).

At the end of the excursion, after examining the expositions, you will see exactly how the mill works: grain is poured into the bunker on the third floor, the dampers open on the lake and water flows through the sluice to the second floor of the mill: one stream of water goes to the turbine (it is located inside the mill 4 meters lower the level of the lake), and the second stream of water goes to the wheel, which is located outside the mill. Going down to the first floor of the mill, you have the opportunity to see how flour is poured from the millstones into sacks, and when you go out into the courtyard you can see how a wooden wheel with a diameter of 4 meters rotates from the water.

A visit to the 18th century water mill museum in the agricultural town of Zhodishki will leave no one indifferent.

Being in this unique object of cultural heritage of the Smorgon region, you can truly feel the spirit of antiquity by touching the age-old traditions of the Belarusian people.
