Synkovichi village, Zelvensky district
On September 18, 2022, one of the earliest Gothic churches in Belarus, included in the state list of historical and cultural values - the church-fortress in the village of Synkovichi, Zelvensky district, invites you to the festival "Sonka Vecha", dedicated to the 720th anniversary of the founding of the first fortress and 615 years since consecration of the temple.
The main part of the festivities will be the Divine Liturgy, which will be led by Archbishop Anthony of Grodno and Volkovysk with a host of bishops and priests. At the end of the service, a procession will take place around the temple. Everyone can pray and venerate the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "The Tsaritsa" and other shrines of the temple.
The festival site will be the area around the temple. The guests of the event will witness and participate in the historical reconstruction in the style of the medieval era of the time of the Grand Duke Vitovt. There is a claim that it was he who rebuilt the ancient fortress into a temple in gratitude for the fact that the locals sheltered him from the pursuit of Jagiello. The surrounding lands were the patrimony of the Grand Duke.
The performance will allow you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of that time. Guests of the festival will be able to feel like a resident of the Middle Ages and take part in festive tournaments of medieval combat, competitions and games.
Monastic farmsteads, folk craftsmen and artisans will present their products to the festival guests. You will be able to see master classes in icon painting, wood carving, straw weaving, soap making, belt weaving, pottery and embroidery, as well as see the performance and become an artist of the Batleyka Theater yourself.
